Laurence Girard.

Biography

Laurence Girard is a plastic artist in ceramic. She really enjoys earthware-working. This allow calling upon all the directions and fully expressing herself through several technics and dimensions : volumes, colours, graphics and drawing, selected materials, and finally touching. Laurence Girard considers earth-ware friendly and humbly at the same time. She wishes each of her works to capture her thought and to express peacefulness, roundness, sweetness, and even a bit of humour ! Laurence practices wheel-thrown ceramic, mainly with Beck delicate faience material and designs her « engobes » (colors)in her own workshop with earthier and metallic oxide, any dyestuff being excluded. Therefore she gets her own range of color adaptable upon each specific need. A silken and precious appearance is obtained through a lengthy polishing with an agate stone. Moreover engraved signs and sentences repeated several times are making each ceramic work unique and aiming at the touched viewer.
Laurence Girard designs and creates unique ceramic artworks bringing a bit of pleasure and beauty in our day to day life, even for a short while !
